Description:
3-Chloro-5-nitrobenzonitrile is a nonpeptide inhibitor of thrombin. It binds to the active site of thrombin and inhibits its function as a serine protease. 3-Chloro-5-nitrobenzonitrile has been shown to inhibit thrombosis in animal models, and it is being developed for the treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome. Thrombin inhibitors may be used to prevent or treat deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and stroke.
