1-(2-Chloro-4-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone (1-CHPE) is an azide that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. 1-CHPE can be used to synthesize β2-agonists such as tulobuterol. Hydroxylamine, resorcinol, and hydrogenation are all involved in the reaction sequence to form tulobuterol from 1-CHPE. The metabolite of 1-CHPE is hydroxy group, which is formed by the enzymatic oxidation of resorcinol. The synthesis of tulobuterol is achieved through a series of reactions that include benzylation and oxirane formation.
