Product Information
- 3-Fluoro-5-chloropyridine
- Methyl Heptadecafluorononanoate
3-Chloro-5-fluoropyridine is an industrial chemical that is used to produce pesticides. It is a halopyridine that can be synthesized in three steps from ethylamine, hydrochloric acid, and palladium. The first step of the synthesis involves neutralizing the hydrochloric acid with sodium hydroxide and then adding ethylamine to form 3-chloro-5-fluoroethylamine. The second step involves chlorinating this amine using phosphorus pentachloride to form 3-chloro-5-fluoropyridine. This product is then hydrolyzed using dilute sulfuric acid to produce 3,5-dichloropyridine.
