Product Information
- 4-Chloro-3-pyridinol
- 4-Chloropyridin-3-Ol
- 4-Chloro-3Hydroxypyridine
4-Chloropyridin-3-ol is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHClNO. 4-Chloropyridin-3-ol is an oxidized form of pyridine that can be produced by dehydrogenation of nitrobenzene with sodium bisulfite in the presence of oxygen. This reaction is stereoselective and results in the production of only one enantiomer. The use of magnetic fields during this reaction increases the regioselectivity, as it favors the formation of 4-chloropyridin-3-ol over other products such as 2,5-dichloropyridine. 4-Chloropyridin-3-ol has been shown to inhibit dehydrogenase enzymes, which are involved in numerous biotransformations including oxidation reactions and metabolism.
