Product Information
- 4-Pyrimidinamine, 2-Chloro-5-Iodo-
2-Chloro-5-iodopyrimidin-4-amine is a natural product that binds to the serotonin transporter (SERT) and blocks the uptake of serotonin into nerve cells. It has been shown to have antimalarial activity, although its mechanism of action is not well understood. 2CIAPA has also been shown to inhibit transporters in A549 cells, which are responsible for transporting xenobiotics from the cell. The compound may also work as an electrophile and form covalent bonds with DNA.
2CIAPA has been shown to have strong radioligand binding properties and high affinity for SERTs in rat brain tissue. It is thought that this compound may be useful as a model for studying SERTs in the central nervous system.
