Product Information
2-Chloro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline is a chlorinated oxetane with antibacterial activity. It is synthesized by catalytic asymmetric reaction of 2-chloro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline and styrene in the presence of copper complexes. The chlorination process results in a product that has a chiral center at the C2 position. The pharmacophore for this compound is an oxetane ring with chlorine atoms at C2 and C4 positions and a hydrogen atom at C3. The hydrobromide salt of this product has been shown to have antibacterial activity against staphylococcus bacteria.
