Product Information
- Benzeneacetaldehyde, 4-Chloro-Alpha-Oxo-
- (4-Chlorophenyl)(oxo)acetaldehyde
2-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2-oxoacetaldehyde is a triazine compound that has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth. This drug inhibits the enzyme benzofuran hydroxylase, which is responsible for the conversion of benzofurans to benzodiazepines, thereby preventing the formation of compounds that are toxic to bacteria. The crystal structure of this compound has also been analyzed and it was found to have a binding site for water molecules. 2-(4-Chlorophenyl)-2-oxoacetaldehyde may have antibacterial activity due to its ability to inhibit amine synthesis in bacteria.
