Cyclohexylboronic acid is a boron-containing compound that is primarily used as a cross-linking agent. Cyclohexylboronic acid reacts with polyenes to form covalent bonds and inhibit the enzymatic activity of metalloproteases, such as bortezomib. Cyclohexylboronic acid has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of metabolic disorders, due to its ability to increase the viscosity of solution. The chemical structure of cyclohexylboronic acid consists of an aromatic hydrocarbon ring with two hydroxyl groups on opposite sides. This makes it an excellent model system for studying the effects of cationic surfactants on polyene chains.
