Description:
2-Chloro-3-(chloromethyl)pyrazine is a pyridine derivative. It is a preparative agent for the methylation of aromatic compounds and for the chlorination of aliphatic compounds. 2-Chloro-3-(chloromethyl)pyrazine can be used to convert a primary or secondary amine into its N-methyl derivative, and also converts thiazoles into methylthio derivatives. The product has been shown to react with radicals to give a 1,2,4-triazole radical.
