Cyclopent-3-ene-1-carboxamide is an organic compound that is synthesized from cyclopentanol and malonic acid. It can be hydrolyzed to cyclopentanol and formic acid. This compound can also be catalyzed to form a chiral epoxide, which is useful in the synthesis of amides by cleavage of the epoxide group. Cyclopent-3-ene-1-carboxamide has been shown to have efficient intermolecular reactions with acetonitrile, giving enantiomerically pure product. It also has a high diastereoselectivity, giving only one diastereoisomer. Cyclopent-3-ene-1-carboxamide is a bicyclic compound with two ether groups that are separated by a single carbon atom.
