- 1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine, 7-chloro-
7-Chloro-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (7CI) is a hydrophobic compound that has affinity for nucleotides. It is a competitive inhibitor of the ATPase activity of mammalian adenosine triphosphatases and inhibits cryptosporidium parvum growth in vitro by binding to the transporter protein, which prevents uptake of nutrients into the parasite. 7CI is not active against Cryptosporidium hominis or other species of Cryptosporidium. It also inhibits the atpase activity of flavonoid derivatives.
