8-Cyclopentyl-7,8-dihydro-2-[4-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)phenyl]amino]-7-oxo-6H-[1,3]thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine-6carbonitrile (CPMT) is an experimental drug that inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells and brain tumor cells. It has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of proliferative disorders such as fibrocystic disease and brain tumors. CPMT binds to the cell membrane receptors and may affect cellular proliferation by altering the function of signal transduction pathways. CPMT also interacts with the sensor protein, which is involved in visually guided behavior. The use of this drug is not recommended for people who have a history of cancer or are currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
