Description:
2-(Chloromethyl)quinazoline is an isomer of quinazolinone that has been shown to have anticancer activity against ovarian cancer. 2-(Chloromethyl)quinazoline is synthesised from acetonitrile and chloride, which are reacted with a benzodiazepine. The synthesis of 2-(chloromethyl)quinazoline involves the reaction of methanesulfonamide with a tricyclic compound. This process can be used as a research tool for studying the synthesis of quinazolinones.
