Description:
Azelastine is a long-acting anti-allergic agent that inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and other types of allergy. Azelastine hydrolyzes in alkaline solution to form cyanide, which is then metabolized to thiocyanate, a less toxic compound. The reaction product is a hydrolyzing agent.
