Product Information
- 2-(3-Chlorophenyl)Guanidine
1-(3-Chlorophenyl)guanidine is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist that inhibits the activity of glutamate. This agent was shown to have antidepressant-like effects in rats and mice, which may be due to its interaction with serotonin and dopamine receptors. 1-(3-Chlorophenyl)guanidine has been shown to increase energy metabolism, as well as inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species by mitochondria. This compound binds to the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subunit, leading to increased release of dopamine in the brain. 1-(3-Chlorophenyl)guanidine may also act as an allosteric modulator at other cholinergic receptors, including those on neurons in the hippocampus.
