Description:
2-Chloro-1H-imidazole is a heterocycle that is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of viral replication, such as influenza and hepatitis C virus. 2-Chloro-1H-imidazole also has antihypertensive properties, which are thought to be due to its ability to inhibit the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. This drug can be synthesized from chloride and imine nitrogen by reaction with magnesium salt in a scalable synthesis process.
