6-Chloro-1-methyl-1H-indole (6CMI) is a cross-coupled product of carbazoles and indoles. It can be synthesized by the palladium catalyzed reaction of 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydrobenz[e]indole with chloroacetonitrile followed by hydrolysis. 6CMI is used in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals.
