Product Information
4-Chloro-8-methylquinoline is a member of the spirocyclic family of molecules that contains a naphthalene ring. It is an isomer of 8-methylquinoline and has been shown to undergo photoisomerization to the thermochromic form in the presence of light. The quantum yield for this reaction was found to be 0.4%. 4-Chloro-8-methylquinoline also undergoes photochromic transformations, where it changes color from white to yellow when exposed to ultraviolet light. This photochemical reaction can be reversed with heat or when the material is cooled again.
