Copper phthalocyanine disulfonicacid is a reactive compound that is used as an electrochemical probe. It reacts with metal ions to form a particle which can be detected by electron microscopy. This compound is synthesized by the reaction of copper phthalocyanine and sulfuric acid in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, which produces a particle that has been shown to have an acidic surface. Copper phthalocyanine disulfonicacid reacts with hydroxyl groups to form metal-coordinated aromatic compounds, which are then reacted with n-dimethylformamide to produce coatings. The reactive nature of this compound makes it useful in the production of nanowires.
