Product Information
- 2-(2-Bromoethyl)Pyridine Kp-010
- Pyridine, 2-(2-chloroethyl)-
2-(2-Chloroethyl)pyridine is a reversible covalent inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. It binds to the metal ion chelate ring and changes the geometry of the enzyme, which inhibits its function. 2-(2-Chloroethyl)pyridine has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase in vitro and in vivo. This agent has also been shown to have significant activation at physiological pH, as it becomes protonated. The rate constant for this reaction is second order with respect to 2-(2-chloroethyl)pyridine concentration, which means that the rate of the reaction increases as more 2-(2-chloroethyl)pyridine is added to the solution.
