3-Chloro-4-isopropoxybenzoicacid is a chemotherapeutic that inhibits the mitotic activity of cells. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human cancer cells in high-throughput screening and clinical trials. 3-Chloro-4-isopropoxybenzoicacid is a potent inhibitor of kinesin, a protein involved in mitosis. Kinesins are motor proteins that transport cargo along microtubules during cell division. 3-Chloro-4-isopropoxybenzoicacid also inhibits the activity of other proteins involved in cellular proliferation, such as cyclin A and cyclin B1, which regulate the progression through the cell cycle.
