4-Chloro-3-[3-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-3-oxo-propionylemino]-benzoic acid is a reactive perfluorinated cross-linking agent that has been shown to be chemically stable in the presence of sodium carbonate, hydroxide solution, chloride, and trifluoroacetic acid. The structural formula for 4-chloro-3-[3-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-3-oxo-propionylemino]-benzoic acid is C9H10ClF2O8. This compound reacts with acyl halides (RCOCl) to form an ether linkage. In the presence of hydrogen fluoride or fluorine and sodium hydroxide solution, 4-chloro 3-[3-(4 methoxy phenyl)-3 -oxopropionylemino] benzoic acid forms a covalent bond with hydroxyl groups
