2-Chloro-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine is an antibiotic drug that is structurally related to picolinic acid and nitro compounds. It is a regiospecific reagent that efficiently produces the corresponding 4-amino derivative. 2-Chloro-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine has been shown to have synergistic effects with hypophosphorous acid (HPA) in human cells and x-ray crystal structures of the product have been determined. 2-Chloro-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine also forms supramolecular assemblies and crystallizes in different morphologies depending on various factors including solvent type and reaction conditions. The compound can form formylation products and interacts with proteins.
