2-Chloro-4'-hydroxyacetophenone is an exploratory compound that has been shown to reduce the amount of acetonitrile and polycarbonates in tissue samples. It also catalyzes reduction of 2-chloro-4'-hydroxyacetophenone to produce a reactive, fluorescent acetonitrile derivative. This compound has been shown to be reactive and efficient in the production of prostaglandins from cyclic endoperoxides.
