3-(3-Chloro-propyl)-7,8-dimethoxy-1,3-dihydro-benzo[d]azepin-2-one is a selective serotonin receptor modulator (SSRM) that has been shown to have antidepressant properties in animal models. 3-(3-Chloro-propyl)-7,8-dimethoxy-1,3-dihydrobenzo[d]azepin-2-one has high selectivity for the 5HT receptors and is not active at other serotonergic or dopaminergic receptors. The compound also binds to the benzene ring of serotonin and forms hydrates and solvates. It has a molecular weight of 304.44 g/mol and a melting point of 163 °C.
