It is a white solid that can be synthesized from 7-chloroquinoline and 2-(methylsulfonyl)benzoic acid by acylation with oxalyl chloride. The crude product can be purified by recrystallization or column chromatography. 7C7TBT has a molecular weight of 313.85 g/mol and an empirical formula of C14H11ClN2O3S. It is soluble in chloroform and ethanol but insoluble in water.
