3-Chlorophenyl isothiocyanate (3CPITC) is a chemical that inhibits the growth of bacteria by interfering with bacterial DNA synthesis. 3CPITC has been shown to inhibit the production of β-amino acids, which are essential for protein synthesis. This compound also has significant anti-inflammatory activity and can be used to treat inflammatory diseases. 3CPITC inhibits the production of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), an inflammatory cytokine, in human serum. It also has efficient antibacterial properties against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. The antitumor activity of 3CPITC is due to its ability to induce DNA damage in cancer cells through its radiation property.
