Description:
2-Chloro-5-vinylpyridine is a heterocyclic compound that is an epibatidine analog. It can be synthesized by the addition of 2-chloro-5-vinylpyridine to the chiral oxazolidinone in a catalytic hydrogenation reaction. This process leads to an azomethine, which can be converted into pyrazoles, oxadiazoles, and pyridines. 2-Chloro-5-vinylpyridine has been shown to be an effective additive for the Wittig reaction.
