- 6-Chloroindoline
6-Chloro-2,3-dihydro-1H-indole is an exploratory compound. It is a nitroaniline that has been shown to have antibacterial activity in vitro and in vivo. 6-Chloro-2,3-dihydro-1H-indole inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase, thereby preventing the formation of supercoiled and relaxed circular DNA. This active form is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
