- 6-Chloro-4-pyrimidinecarboxylicacid
- 6-Chloro-4-Pyrimidinecarboxylic Acid
6-Chloro-4-pyrimidinecarboxylic acid is a pyrimidine derivative that has the benzoic acid substituent at position 4. It is an antiferromagnetic compound with a coupling constant of 1.5 MHz and a magnetic susceptibility of 0.0082 cm3/mol. Hydrothermal conditions are required for the formation of 6-chloro-4-pyrimidinecarboxylic acid from its corresponding carboxylate and ammonium chloride. The compound has been shown to form ion pairs in solution, which can be described by the following equation:
6-chloro-4-pyrmidinecarboxylic acid + NH4Cl → (6CPA)2(NH4+) + 2HCl
The compound also undergoes ionization reactions to form H+ ions and Cl- ions.
