6-Chloro-N-methyl-5-nitro-4-pyrimidinamine is a cytokinin that is used in plant tissue culture. This compound has been shown to promote shoot growth and stimulate the production of ethylene and cytokinins. It has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of malonate decarboxylase and an analogue of 6,6′-dichloroindolyl phosphate. 6,6′-Dichloroindolyl phosphate inhibits the growth of some bacteria and fungi. The structure of this drug was determined by spectroscopic analysis, mass spectrometry, and infrared spectroscopy.
