3-Chlorothiophene-2-carboxamide is an antibacterial drug that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomes. 3-Chlorothiophene-2-carboxamide binds to the amide site on bacterial ribosomes and prevents the production of proteins, which are vital for cell division. This drug has been shown to be effective against gram negative bacteria, with a potency similar to that of chloramphenicol. 3-Chlorothiophene-2-carboxamide has also been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation in vitro and in vivo, making it a potential antithrombotic agent. However, this drug may interact with other drugs, such as Rivaroxaban and Warfarin, which are used for blood clot prevention.
