It has been shown to have biological activity, including the ability to inhibit β-lactamase enzymes, which are an important part of the bacterial cell wall synthesis machinery. N-(Chloroacetoxy)succinimide can also be used to synthesize β-lactam antibiotics, such as succinimides and mimics of phthalimide reactivity.
