Description:

4-Chloro-2,2'-iminodibenzoic acid (4CIBA) is an organic compound that is used as a biocide in water treatment and as an agent for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. It inhibits the production of IL-2 receptor, which reduces the activity of T cells and prevents autoimmunity. 4CIBA has been shown to be effective in the treatment of arthritis and kidney fibrosis in animal models. This drug also has toxic effects on rat liver microsomes. 4CIBA binds covalently to proteins and forms adducts with cysteine residues, leading to cellular damage.
