Product Information
12-Chlorododecanoic acid is a fatty acid that is used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of the enzyme phenyl group, which is involved in fatty acid biosynthesis. 12-Chlorododecanoic acid binds to the 12-lipoxygenase enzyme, which is involved in lipid metabolism and cellular proliferation. This drug has also been shown to have anti-viral properties against Cryptococcus neoformans, a fungus that causes cryptococcosis. The anti-viral property may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis by inhibiting protein synthesis or by binding to DNA or RNA.
