4-Cyclohexylbenzoic acid is an organic compound that is a metabolite of the drug ciprofloxacin. It is used as an inhibitor of the enzyme benzoyl-CoA reductase, which produces 4-hydroxybenzoate. This compound has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of this enzyme and has been used as a contraceptive and for long-acting birth control. 4-Cyclohexylbenzoic acid also has been shown to inhibit the expression of gene transcription at high temperatures.
