2-Chloroethoxy)acetic acid is an impurity of cetirizine, a drug used to treat allergies. 2-Chloroethoxy)acetic acid is used in the synthesis of organic solvents and peroxides. It can also be used as an anticoagulant for blood transfusions. The major impurities are chloroacetyl chloride and chloroethanol. This compound is a synthetic process and should not be present in cetirizine.
