1-Cyclopropylethyl amine hydrochloride is an insecticide that belongs to the class of synthetic pyrethroids. It is a novel, highly active, and selective cyclopropyl analog of chlorantraniliprole (a neonicotinoid). 1-Cyclopropylethyl amine hydrochloride selectively inhibits the voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system of insects, resulting in paralysis and death. 1-Cyclopropylethyl amine hydrochloride also has significant selectivity for resistant strains of plutella xylostella and has shown promising results in field trials against this pest. This compound has potential as a research tool for investigating ryanodine receptors.
