Product Information

Name:
cis-(+)-12-Oxo-phytodienoic acid,100ug in 100ul EtOH
Description:

Cis-12-oxo-phytodienoic acid is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of plant fatty acids. It has shown to have insecticidal activity and can be used as a natural pesticide for plants. Cis-12-oxo-phytodienoic acid has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in plants by binding to effector proteins and by inhibiting the activity of dehydroascorbate reductase, which is an enzyme that converts dehydroascorbate into ascorbate. This inhibits the biosynthesis of polyamines, which are important for growth and development in plants. The physiological function of this compound is still unknown, but it has been shown to induce polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in some model systems.
