Cesium metavanadate is a luminescent, white solid. It is an inorganic salt that has the chemical formula CsVO. Cesium metavanadate is a heat-resistant compound and can be used as an oxidation catalyst for organic solvents such as acetone and acetonitrile. Cesium metavanadate has also been used in optical applications due to its high refractive index and low absorption of infrared light.
Cesium metavanadate is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water, alcohols, ethers, and chloroform. Cesium metavanadate is chemically stable in air at room temperature but decomposes readily when heated to temperatures over 400°C. Cesium metavanadate has a melting point of 690°C, boiling point of 1780°C, density of 5.6 g/cm3, and vapor pressure of 0 mmHg at 20°C.
