Description:
2-Cyano-7-methylnaphthalene is a nitrogen heterocycle and an industrial chemical. It has anticoagulant properties and is used in the synthesis of dyes, drugs, and pesticides. The compound can be synthesized from hexamethylenetetramine and cyclodehydration. 2-Cyano-7-methylnaphthalene reacts with hydroxylamine to form a photocyclization product. 2-Cyano-7-methylnaphthalene also undergoes a photocyclization reaction when irradiated with light in the presence of methoxy or isopropyl groups.
