Cabozantinib N-oxide is a prodrug that is metabolized to cabozantinib. Cabozantinib is an investigational drug that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by blocking the activity of several proteins, including the aldehyde oxidase and cytochrome p450 enzymes. Cabozantinib N-oxide has been shown to be effective in reducing tumor size in animal models for prostate and liver cancer. The pharmacokinetic properties of this drug have been determined in rats and humans using a lc-ms/ms method. In rats, it was found that cabozantinib N-oxide showed dose proportionality, with no accumulation or elimination of cabozantinib after repeated dosing.
