Product Information
(1S,2S)-trans-1,2-Cyclohexanediol is a diol that has been shown to form hydrogen bonds with proteins and membranes. It reacts with hydrochloric acid to form an acid solution. The reaction solution can be titrated calorimetrically with a base to determine the concentration of the acid. (1S,2S)-trans-1,2-Cyclohexanediol also undergoes a reaction mechanism in which one molecule of the cyclohexane ring is lost and one molecule of water is formed. This reaction occurs when papillary muscles are contracted or expanded due to increased blood pressure. In addition, (1S,2S)-trans-1,2-Cyclohexanediol has been shown to have clinical relevance in congestive heart failure and skin models. Hydrogen fluoride is used as an oxidizing agent in this process.
