Description:

2-Carboxypiperidinium chloride is a chlorinating agent that reacts with organic solvents to form chlorinated hydrocarbons. It can be used as a reaction solution for the synthesis of picolinic acid. 2-Carboxypiperidinium chloride has a low toxicity and is not absorbed by the skin or lungs. It is metabolized in vivo to carboxylates, which are excreted in the urine, and has been shown to have moderate activity against inflammatory diseases. 2-Carboxypiperidinium chloride has been used as an alkylating agent in vivo studies.
