It is also used to treat nerve pain and sciatic nerve pain. 4-Chlorobenzhydryl ether hydrochloride has an antihistaminic effect that is long-acting. The drug blocks the action of histamine by preventing the release of histamine from mast cells in the body. This prevents allergic reactions such as hives, asthma, and hay fever. 4-Chlorobenzhydryl ether hydrochloride also inhibits the ebola virus by targeting the virus's RNA polymerase enzyme.
