Product Information
- Benzaldehyde, 2-chloro-4-nitro-
2-Chloro-4-nitrobenzaldehyde is a cytotoxic agent that has been shown to have a strong inhibitory effect on the growth of human breast carcinoma cells. It is an electron reductant that reacts with chlorine to form 2-chloro-5-(2,4,6-trinitrobenzoyl)phenacyl chloride (CP), which can be used in cancer therapy. The formation of CP leads to the generation of cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the induction of apoptosis. CP also binds covalently to DNA at specific sites, resulting in the inhibition of DNA synthesis and cell death.
