4-Chloro-N-[(2,6-difluorobenzoyl)amino]benzamide is a compound that inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins. It is a potent inhibitor of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transaminase and exhibits synergistic effects with other GABA transaminase inhibitors. The mechanism of action of 4-chloro-N-[(2,6-difluorobenzoyl)amino]benzamide is not well understood, but it may involve inhibition of the enzyme activities involved in protein synthesis in bacteria. 4-Chloro-N-[(2,6-difluorobenzoyl)amino]benzamide has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase and the fatty acid synthase system in bacteria. This drug also has an analytical method for detection and quantification by HPLC/UV.
