Product Information

Name:
3-{[(3-Chlorophenyl)sulfonyl]amino}benzoic acid
Description:

3-{[(3-Chlorophenyl)sulfonyl]amino}benzoic acid (3CSABA) is a fatty acid that has been found to have potential anticancer activity. 3CSABA is synthesized by the reaction of 3-chlorobenzoic acid and methanesulfonic acid in the presence of an acidic solid catalyst, such as Amberlite. The optimum concentration for this reaction is determined by measuring the uptake of 3CSABA at different concentrations of hydrochloric acid. 3CSABA has chemical structures that are similar to those of benzoic, nicotinic and phenethylamine acids, which are all known inhibitors of DNA polymerase α. It is thought that these compounds may also inhibit DNA polymerase β and γ, thereby suggesting a possible use as an anti-cancer agent.
