Description

Chloroacetamidine HCl is a carbocycle that belongs to the sulfoxide class of compounds. It is an antibacterial and pesticidal agent, which has been shown to have depression-related activity in humans. Chloroacetamidine HCl inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the c1-6 alkyl group on the bacterial cell wall, blocking its synthesis and inhibiting protein synthesis. This compound also has aryloxyalkyl activity, which may be due to its ability to react with nitro compounds such as nitrofurans. The chloroacetamide class of antibiotics may also act as cancer chemotherapeutics by reacting with DNA and causing strand breaks through a process called cross-linking.
