Copper (I) sulfide is an inorganic compound that is a black solid. It is produced by the reaction of ethylene diamine with copper metal in a furnace. Copper (I) sulfide has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of dopamine from tyrosine, and it can also be used as a photocatalyst to generate hydrogen gas from water and sunlight.
